#1 What are your pronouns?
She/Her
#2 How are you feeling and doing these days?
Abundance of gratitude for my health, home and a supportive community of friends financially supporting me, my family and girls in my BGC program.
Taking advantage of the permission to isolate and rest as diversity/social justice work in this industry day in and out takes a toll.
Working on finishing writing my book, yoga and meditation practice.
Getting out for a nature hike in the Redwoods twice a week, attending online dance classes and finally running again.
Enjoying playing games and crafting with my kid when she is with me.
Stress baking and instapotting.
Days seem to be blended and flying by with online training clients in the morning, online group classes in the afternoon and lots of cleaning up the kitchen.
#3 What would you like us to know about you?
Ambassador for the We Got Next Project https://www.we-got-next.org/
Currently involved in an ongoing filming project on Brown Girls Climbing by female filmmaker Pallavi Somusetty.Athleta, Evolv and Organic Climbing sponsored.
Single mom of an amazing 10 year old human being. I’ve (always) homeschooled her.
#4 You’re the first black womxn to send The Nose at El Capitan in 2003. How long did it take to make the ascent?
6 days to summit.
#5 How are your programs adapting to shelter-in-place orders?
We are learning all the developing information, data and impact of the virus and we must all stay informed, flexible, responsible, and prepared. Staying calm, supportive and globally informed w/advice from trusted officials, we will make it through together and better human beings. Our primary concern remains the emotional, mental, physical and spiritual health of children, marginalized communities of color, folx w/neurons-development challenges, adaptive needs and those in trauma-recovery. We continue our call to support and service w/strengths to remain calm and supportive in crisis situations, creatively think w/logistical tactical responses, and provide safe healing spaces for movement and expression.
Through the next few weeks we are continuing our Homeschool Rocks and Brown Girls Climbing Programs through Zoom. We utilize this time for connection, expression, and movement. I am hosting social distance hikes to support two children and their families with ASD.
We are not w/o service in this crisis, and we are of support to parents who have not experienced homeschooling or in providing non-stop child based stimulation the most. Taylored Fit Solutions is here to support w/ normalcy in your child’s life, providing healthy exercise, a place to connect outside of the home w/ modified physical distancing, and fun. I am hosting limited, low impact, small-size open space outdoor fitness, yoga and meditation and outdoor exploration classes for kids age 8+. Since school is cancelled, classes will be ongoing and more will be added when the outdoor exposure threshold expands for the community.

#6 You’ve coached Kai Lightner and numerous athletes. What is your professional coaching like?
Professional Coaching sessions improve performance, technique and mental focus. I offer 1:1 coaching sessions, workshops, clinics and training camps for competitive youth athletes, adults, folx with adaptive abilities and elite athletes. Athletes benefit from 1:1 coaching, video connection with in-depth coaching analysis, and an Individual Training Program mindful and holistically crafted to support the tart benchmarks and achieve performance preparation.
I started developing a Satellite Training Program for remote athletes and climbers over 15 years ago and it is a model that has become quite popular these past few weeks. My ProClimb and Satellite Coaching Programs focus on fitness, life coaching and climbing training for people seeking supplemental coaching or live in areas where all their needs are not being met. ProClimb Training Program is suited for self motivated climbers requiring individualized attention in training cycles, programs, performance, athletic training, methodology, movement, efficiency and mental focus. The Satellite Coaching Program custom crafts measurable training regimens for independent, motivated and/or remote climbers, pro and elite competitive climbers and adaptive climbers.
#7 Please share any last words of wisdom for the climbing community!
